An important part of an outdoor photoshoot is the background. Lucky for you, as a RI photographer, I know all the best Rhode Island photo locations. Let’s talk about 5 of my favorites!
1. Lincoln Woods
This Rhode Island photo location in Lincoln, RI had to be on my list of favorites. Not only is it close to me, but it has a lot of variety - woods, lake with a sandy beach vibe, stone wall, wooden bridge, and lots of greenery. Lincoln Woods would be perfect for fall photos as the foliage is beautiful here. This is just an all around good spot for family photos, photos of kids, or senior photos.
2. Colt State Park
This spot in Bristol is another with great variety. A little bit of everything from the bridge and dock to greenery and rocks to sit or stand on, all with an ocean view. Always great sunsets at Colt State Park! In the springtime (early-mid May), there are spots filled with pink bushes and trees. It’s so pretty!
3. Downtown Providence
This downtown photo location is perfect. South Water Street has the pedestrian bridge, restaurants, brick walls, the skyline, a city backdrop, water, and greenery. What more could you want?? The willow tree is beautiful and this is the perfect summer spot. If you’re looking for senior sessions or engagements in August or September, definitely consider this Rhode Island photo location!
4. Kinney Azalea Gardens
Mid May is when the azaleas bloom in this Kingstown, RI garden and the bright pops of pink are gorgeous. They have different paths to explore, a moon stone arch, and even a troll bridge! Something to keep in mind with Kinney Azalea Gardens is that you will need to make a reservation request and pay a site fee to take photos here as it is not public property. But you can definitely make it happen for this beautiful spot!
5. East Beach
This Charleston beach is my favorite beach in Rhode Island to photograph at. We are the ocean state, after all! There’s hardly any seaweed in the clear blue water. With the beautiful waves and the tall grass, it makes for the perfect photo backdrop. East Beach is perfect for summer time photos during golden hour.
